Minutes of the 64th Annual General Meeting of the Andhra Pradesh State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India) held on November 16, 2001 at 4.30 p.m. at "Visvesvaraya Bhavan", Khairatabad, Hyderabad -500 004.

1. TO PASS CONDOLENCE RESOLUTION ON THE DEMISE OF THE FOLLOWING CORPORATE MEMBERS :

The Chairman regretfully informed the untimely and sad demise of the following Corporate Members of the Andhra Pradesh State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India):

The Corporate Members present at the Annual General Meeting stood in silence for one minute and paid homage to the departed souls and adopted the following Resolution to be sent to the bereaved families:

2. TO CONFIRM THE MINUTES OF THE BUSINESS SESSION OF 63rd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 23, 2000.

The Minutes of the Business Session of the 63rd Annual General Meeting held on December 23, 2000 at 4.30 p.m. were already circulated earlier. These were taken as read by the Hony Secretary at the Annual General Meeting.
Er D Purnayya, FIE proposed that the Minutes of the Business Session of the 63rd Annual General Meeting held on December 23, 2000 be confirmed. This was seconded by Er V K Raju, FIE. The Minutes were confirmed unanimously.


3. TO RECEIVE THE ANNUAL REPORT (APPENDIX-B) AND AUDITED BALANCE SHEET, INCOME AND EXPENDITURE ACCOUNT (APPENDIX- C) FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31st MARCH, 2001

The Hony Secretary informed that the copies of the Annual Report and Audited Balance Sheet, Income and Expenditure Statement of Andhra Pradesh State Centre for the year ending 31st March, 2001 were already circulated earlier. This was taken as read by the Hony Secretary at the Annual General Meeting. The Hony Secretary clarified on the two items raised by Er U K Raju, AMIE with regard to "Rates & Taxes" and "Election Expenses" as follows:

i) RATES & TAXES: The A P State Centre was paying a sum of Rs.877/- p.a.
towards Property Tax for a long time. As desired by the
Municipal Authorities, A P State Centre submitted Self Assessment Declaration Form in the year 1999-2000, at the old rate. But the same was not agreed to by MCH and as per the revised norms of Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad, we were constrained to pay a sum of Rs.1,38,306/- during the year 2000-2001 for the plinth area of 39,516 sq.ft.
ii) ELECTION EXPENSES:We wish to inform you that the A P State Centre has conducted elections to the A P State Centre Committee (Division Wise) for the sessions 2000-2002 and one Corporate Member to the Council from A P State Centre for the Sessions 2001-2005.

The details of expenditure are:
a) Printing Charges for Call for Nominations, letters, Circulars; Ballot Papers, Envelopes etc. for .. Rs.26, 132.00
Corporate Members.
b) Postage .. Rs,43,752.00
c) Board of Scruitneers Meetings, Conveyance etc. .. Rs. 4,290.50

The Hony Secretary also presented the activities organised from 1st April, 2001 to 15th November, 2001.
Er K V Rangaiah, FIE proposed that the Annual Report and Audited Accounts for the year ending 31st March, 2001 be approved. Er K Viswanath, FIE seconded the proposal. The General Body unanimously approved and confirmed the Annual Report, Audited Balance sheet, Income and Expenditure account of A P State Centre for the year ending 31st March, 2001.

4. TO APPOINT AUDITORS FOR THE YEAR 2001-2002 AND FIX THEIR REMUNERATION:
The Hony Secretary brought to the notice of the General Body that M/s Purushotam & Company, Chartered Accountants were appointed as Auditors for the year 2000-2001 with a remuneration of Rs.5,000/- per annum. The Hony Secretary further informed the General Body that the Monthly Internal Audit was being conducted at a nominal remuneration of Rs.500/- per month. Er P L N Murthy, FIE proposed that the same Auditors be continued for the financial year 2001-2002 and the A P State Centre Committee may finalise the remuneration. The members appreciated the services being rendered by M/s Purushotam & Co. Er Ch. Srirama Sarma, FIE and Er G Venkataramana, MIE seconded the proposal. The General Body unanimously carried the same.

5. ANY OTHER PERMISSIBLE BUSINESS(Matters of Technical Interest )

The Members suggested the following:
a. To organise a Round Table Conference on "Strategies available for Indian IT professionals seeking jobs in USA under the present circumstances (i.e. after September 11, 2001 developments)
b. To develop a web-site enabling members to take advantage of
the various programmes being organised by A P State Centre.
c. To approach Heads of Engineering Departments to accord
necessary permission to their technical officers to attend various
activities being organised by A P State Centre from time to time.
d. To publish/make available amendments to IS standards

Since there being no other business, the Chairman declared that the 64th Annual General Meeting as closed.
The Meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chair.

The Andhra Pradesh State Centre had the privilege of hosting the XV Indian Engineering Congress at Hyderabad from 18th to 22nd December, 2000.
Shri N Chandrababu Naidu, Hon'ble Chief Minister of A P inaugurated the XV Indian Engineering Congress on 19th December, 2000 at Sri Satya Sai Nigamagamam, Srinagar Colony, Hyderabad. The delegates, elite and budding engineers gave a standing oration to the Chief Guest. The Congress received high appreciation from all and it is another feather in the cap of Andhra Pradesh State Centre.

After the Inauguration, Five Technical Sessions were held wherein 20 papers were presented by the people of high eminence and 5 invited Lectures also organised.
On this occasion, the following Memorial Lectures were organised:

1. The 9th Dr Amitabha Bhattacharya Memorial Lecture
on" Emerging Chapability for A Global World: The Institution's New Agenda"

e-Governance" by Prof. P N Murthy, FIE Head, Systems Engineering,

4. 13th Dr A N Khosla Memorial Lecture on "Hydro Power Development-
A National Perspective" by Shri Arun Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, Nathpa Jhakri Power Corporation Limited, Shimla.

BEST STATE CENTRE AWARD:

The President of IEI, Er Jagman Singh, FIE declared at the 81st Annual General Meeting of IEI held at Hyderabad on 18.12.2000 that the Council of IEI has selected the Andhra Pradesh State Centre of IEI as the Best State Centre for its best all-round performance during the year 1999-2000.
Er G Prabhakar, FIE Chairman, IEI, A P State Centre received the Best State Centre Award for the year 1999-2000 from Er Jagman Singh, FIE President, IEI at 81st AGM of IEI held at Hyderabad on 18.12.2000. The Award consisted of Rs. 1,00,000/- cash Award, a Certificate and a Memento.

6.0 63rd ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
6.1 BUSINESS SESSION
Business Session of 63rd Annual General Meeting was held on December 23, 2000 at 4.30 p.m. under the Chairmanship of Er G Prabhakar,FIE, Chairman, IEI, A P State Centre.

6.2 TECHNICAL SESSIONS:

Technical Sessions were held from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m.on 23.12.2000 wherein six papers in Civil Engineering, one paper in Environmental Engg. one paper in Electrical Engg.Division; one paper in Electronics; one paper in Computer Engg; were presented. Shri K Lakshminarayana, Chief Engineer, A P Health, Medical Infrastructure Finance Corporation, Hyderabad presided over the Civil Engg. papers and Environmental Engg. Paper; Er T Sugunakara Rao, FIE Former Member, A P S E B presided over the Electrical Engg.,Electronics and Computer Engg.papers.


6.3 DILDAR HUSSAIN MEMORIAL LECTURE 23.12.2000

delivered Dildar Hussain Memorial Lecture.
